“I never really liked ABBA. And then we were in Ibiza—we were actually in Formentera, and we were getting a boat from Formentera to Ibiza,” Michael Fassbender stated.
He then added that “after having lunch, he and his group of friends were headed back, but the weather had gotten stormy. Talking to Jimmy Fallon, Michael Fassbender added that going back to the shore was not an option, as the group had “already taken our little tender boat out to the main boat where we were going to go back to Ibiza."
As the group sailed through the waters, the storm intensified, with plates flying around, forcing Fassbender and the others on the boat to "lock stuff down." However, the actor recalled hearing ABBA playing on the boat while he clung to it. "I finally understood ABBA," the German-Irish actor said.
Laughing at the show, Fassbender joked that a person is always safe with ABBA. He went on to say that at the time, he wondered if it was the moment everyone was going to die, and thought ABBA's track made for "a good soundtrack to die to."
Currently, Michael Fassbender stars in the Paramount+/Showtime series “The Agency”, which follows a CIA agent assigned to oversee the London Station while his past comes back to haunt him.
