In a recent interview, Anupam shared the story of how their love story began, revealing that they were best friends for over a decade before falling in love. "We were best of friends for ten years before that," Anupam said. "She was married, and I was ditched by a girl after three years of relationship with her, and she (Kirron) was going through a tough time in her marriage."
Anupam recalled how their friendship turned into love and eventually marriage. He also shared the contrasting phases of their lives at the time: "She was a star already then. She was doing theatres, she was working in movies. She is an M.A. first class first. I met her in Chandigarh. I was a simple village boy. Apparently, there was no connection between us."
The couple tied the knot in 1985 in an ashram in Gurgaon. "Before this, I was shooting for a film in Pune and I had reached (Gurgaon, for the wedding) a day prior," Anupam added.
Both actors have made significant contributions to the film industry, with Anupam having appeared in over 540 films and Kirron winning two National Film Awards. Anupam's latest release, Vijay 69, is currently streaming on Netflix.
