In a pioneering effort to alleviate the burden on electricity consumers, the Sindh government has launched an ambitious 'Floating Solar Power' project at Keenjhar Lake, located about 36 kilometers away from Thatta city.
This groundbreaking initiative, led by the Department of Energy in Sindh, represents a major advancement in adopting sustainable energy solutions for the area.
An agreement has been finalized with Go Energy Pvt Ltd to commence the Floating Solar Power project, aiming for completion within two years. Once finished, the project will produce 500 megawatts of electricity, which will be delivered to K-Electric via the Sindh Transmission and Dispatch Company (STDC)'s infrastructure.
This initiative is set to revolutionize the energy sector in Sindh, providing a substantial boost to the province’s power supply.
At the signing ceremony, Sindh Energy Minister Nasir Hussain Shah highlighted the project’s potential benefits for power consumers in the province. He emphasized the Sindh government’s commitment to addressing energy shortages and improving the overall power infrastructure.
Shah also called on the federal government to ensure an adequate supply of gas to mitigate the ongoing energy shortages in metropolitan areas.
Minister Shah expressed pride in Sindh being the first province to install its own transmission line, a notable accomplishment while other provinces are still in the process of acquiring licenses. He emphasized that their foremost focus is on finishing ongoing projects to deliver concrete benefits to the populace.
