Norway has taken a big step toward eco-friendly transportation by launching the world’s first road that can wirelessly charge electric vehicles while they are driving. This new system removes the need for charging cables or stopping at charging stations, making it easier to keep EVs powered on the go.
The road is embedded with inductive charging coils beneath its surface. These coils transfer energy directly to EVs equipped with compatible receivers, allowing vehicles to charge while in motion. The system operates automatically and can deliver a consistent charge at highway speeds.
This development could accelerate the deployment of autonomous EV fleets, enabling continuous operation without the need for scheduled charging breaks. It also enhances convenience for drivers and offers a scalable model for future transportation networks, aiming to reduce carbon emissions.
Norway has a national target of achieving 100% EV adoption by 2025, and it is well on its way to doing so.

Pakistan’s Electric Vehicle Policy 2020–2025 aims to have 30% of all new vehicle sales be electric by 2030, and 50% of buses and trucks switch to electric by 2040. To support this, the government is offering tax reductions, lower import duties, and incentives for local assembly of EVs.
Chinese companies have started investing in EV assembly plants, with one planned in Punjab. Pilot projects for electric buses are already running in Islamabad and Karachi.
However, Pakistan’s EV charging system is still in its early stages. Although there are plans to expand the number of EV chargers across the country, it will take time before a complete and reliable EV infrastructure is in place.
