Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday ordered the immediate dispatch of two planeloads of relief supplies to Gaza and Lebanon, instructing the relevant authorities to use both land and air routes for aid delivery.
During a meeting to assess the relief efforts for Palestine and Lebanon, the prime minister emphasized better coordination with Pakistan's ambassadors in Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt to ensure effective distribution of relief items.
He called for a faster pace in aid delivery, making sure that assistance reaches those in need. The prime minister also renewed his appeal to citizens and overseas Pakistanis to contribute generously to the PM Relief Fund for Gaza and Lebanon.
Additionally, he directed the authorities to launch an awareness campaign about the Relief Fund set up by the government.
In a briefing on relief efforts, the prime minister was informed that winter tents, clothing, blankets, medicines, and food items were being sent to support those suffering from the Israeli aggression in Gaza and Lebanon.
However, it was noted that Israeli attacks and blockades were hindering the supply of relief materials to the affected regions.
The meeting was also informed that the government would facilitate NGOs willing to send aid to Gaza and Lebanon.
Federal ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Ahad Khan Cheema, and Attaullah Tarar, Minister of State Shiza Fatima Khawaja, Special Assistant to the PM Tariq Fatemi, and senior officials from the Higher Education Commission and National Disaster Management Authority were present at the meeting.
