Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has warned that any attack or threat against the country will be met with a response, following US strikes in southern Iran that have further heightened tensions in the Strait of Hormuz region.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, Araghchi said the United States had chosen to “test Iran’s resolve,” adding that Iranian armed forces would not leave any aggression unanswered.
He also cautioned Washington to withdraw from the region “if it seeks safety,” while referring to what he described as historical consequences faced by foreign powers in the Persian Gulf.
Despite its defeats on the battlefield, the U.S. opted to test our determination.

Local media in Iran reported multiple explosions and projectile activity in parts of Hormozgan province, including Qeshm Island, Sirik, Minab, and Jask. Air defence systems were activated in several areas, including Bandar Abbas, before the situation was later described by state media as largely under control.

Separate reports suggested that US strikes had damaged infrastructure in Sirik county, including water facilities, leading to disruptions in supply to nearby villages.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that its forces conducted self-defense strikes, linking the operation to an earlier incident involving the downing of a US military helicopter.
The latest developments come amid already strained relations between Washington and Tehran, with both sides exchanging accusations over recent incidents in the region.

Iran’s military command stated that its forces had targeted US positions in the region in response to what it called continued American aggression. Officials in Tehran described the actions as part of their right to self-defense.
In parallel, Araghchi held diplomatic discussions with his counterparts in Turkey and Saudi Arabia, where he outlined Iran’s position and condemned the strikes as a violation of sovereignty.
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi rejected claims that Iran deliberately targeted a US Apache helicopter that crashed near the Strait of Hormuz.
He said Iran had no involvement in any intentional attack, though he acknowledged that the situation in the area remains highly sensitive.
The recent exchange of strikes has added fresh pressure on an already fragile security environment in the Gulf region. With both Iran and the United States issuing warnings and carrying out retaliatory actions, concerns are rising about the possibility of further escalation in a region that plays a critical role in global energy supplies.
