According to the Newsbytes, the restriction was enforced late Friday or early Saturday, after which users in India attempting to access Reuters' X account received the message:
"@Reuters has been blocked in India due to legal demands."
As per The Deccan Chronicle, there has been no official statement or legal basis provided by the Indian government for this decision. Journalists and social media users are calling this move another attack on freedom of expression.
