A group of participants from Pakistan and those based in the UK and USA of Pakistani origin participated in the event, demonstrating their skill and resolve on the global stage.
Hamza Syed (USA) set a commendable pace, finishing the marathon in an impressive time of 2 hours, 43 minutes, and 21 seconds.
Significantly, Sadiq Shah put up a stellar performance, completing the marathon in an impressive time of 2 hours, 57 minutes, and 5 seconds. His accomplishment stands out as a testament to the dedication and hard work invested in training and preparation.
Dr. Bsherri Anjum (USA) also made her mark, completing the marathon in 3 hours, 20 minutes, and 25 seconds.
Dr. Salman Khan, of Pakistani origin from the USA, completed the marathon in 3 hours, 23 minutes, and 11 seconds. Similarly, Faisal Shafi clocked in at 3 hours, 16 minutes, and 50 seconds, showcasing his remarkable stamina and speed.
Faisal also achieved his sixth and final star in Boston, becoming the 8th Pakistani to attain the 6 Star Finisher status in the Abbott World Marathon Majors program. He began his Marathon Majors journey in Berlin in 2022.
Additionally, runners such as Ayesha Akhtar (USA), Huma Rehman (UK), Huma Imtiaz and Sahar Halim (USA), contributed diversity and strength to the event.
Collectively, these runners embody the spirit of persistence and excellence, leaving their mark in the esteemed Boston Marathon.
Mike Nithavrianakis, former British Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi, also participated in the Marathon and finished in 3 hours, 19 minutes, and 58 seconds.
Nithavrianakis, who currently serves as Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Somalia, raised funds for children’s education during his tenure in Pakistan while also playing a pivotal role in promoting running in the country.

In the meantime, in the elite men’s group, Ethiopian Sisay Lemma prevented Evans Chebet, 35, from securing his third consecutive victory. The Kenyan could have been only the fifth man in the race’s more than 125-year history to win three years in a row.
Kenyan Hellen Obiri defended her title against an elite women’s field that race organisers described as “historically fast.”
The 34-year-old crossed the finish line first for the second year in a row. Obiri, who finished with an unofficial time of 2:22.37, broke away from a group of nearly a dozen women and demonstrated her dominance in the final stretch through Brookline and down Kenmore Square to secure the win.
Sharon Lokedi finished in second place and Edna Kiplagat came in third.
