Sanam Saeed shares her views on rising divorce rates in Pakistan

One of the biggest and most intelligent stars in Pakistan is Sanam Saeed. She has always managed to create uplifting and intelligent content and stay away from mindlessness, earning love for her work and style from people. Sanam is married to actor Mohib Mirza, and although the couple is living happily, she has experienced her fair share of grief, heartbreaks, and losses in the past.

Sanam spoke on behalf of the British Asian Trust, which works to provide help for mental health. The actress raised awareness in an interview with journalist Aamna Haider Isani and also discussed how changes in society have contributed to the increase in divorces in the country. She highlighted some positive evolution observed in women’s rights and how it has empowered them to better protect themselves.

She said “Today women are more financially independent and know their rights. This was not the practice in the past and women mostly were dependent on men for their financial needs. Many times they did not have another support even if they were in toxic relationships. This has changed now and girls stand up for themselves which has also contributed towards the increased percentage of divorces.”
