CHITRAL: A foreign hunter successfully hunted a Kashmiri Markhor in the Geherit Gol area of Chitral, according to the Wildlife Department.
The Russian hunter obtained the hunting license for USD 68,000 under the Community-Based Trophy Hunting Program.
The Markhor’s horns measured 41 inches, and the hunt was conducted under a non-exportable quota, meaning the animal cannot be transported outside Pakistan.
Authorities stated that a significant portion of the revenue generated from the program will be allocated to local community welfare, emphasizing that the initiative aims to conserve wildlife, prevent illegal hunting, and provide economic benefits to local residents.
The foreign national had obtained a license for the hunt at a cost of $68,000, according to the Wildlife Department.
The Wildlife Department reaffirmed that the trophy hunting program is conducted in strict compliance with international laws and regulations to ensure the protection of endangered species.
