Religious groups' protests over the Kurram issue have caused major traffic disruptions in Karachi, and demonstrations are continuing at several key locations.
According to Karachi traffic police, the religious groups is staging protests at 10 different spots across the city. While sit-ins at Malir 15 and the National Highway have ended, clearing those roads for traffic, demonstrations persist in other areas.
Key locations still affected include Numaish Chowrangi, Shara-e-Faisal, Golimar, North Karachi Powerhouse Chowrangi, University Road, Abul Hassan Isfahani Road, Abbas Town, Five Star Chowrangi, Korangi’s D.A. Flats, Shara-e-Pakistan, and Kamran Chowrangi in Gulistan-e-Johar.
These blockades have caused severe traffic congestion, frustrating commuters and struggling with delays. In response, the traffic police have launched a 24/7 helpline to assist residents and manage the ongoing situation.
The protests have now entered their third day, prompting traffic authorities to implement proactive measures to alleviate the impact on daily commuters. Despite these efforts, the demonstrations have significantly disrupted normal life in the port city.
Authorities are working to resolve the situation as residents continue to face challenges in their daily travel due to the road closures.
