In a historic move, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced that 10,000 tractors will be provided to farmers at subsidized rates by February 28, along with 2,000 super seeders to be distributed by March.
A high-level meeting chaired by Senior Provincial Minister Mariyum Aurangzeb reviewed the performance of ministries and departments in agriculture, energy, and industry over the past six months. Officials presented updates on the progress of projects initiated by the chief minister.
The government also resolved to fast-track and expand its initiative to provide free solar energy to residents across Punjab. Additionally, the transition of government buildings to solar power is set to be completed by June, alongside the conclusion of a major renewable energy project.
A comprehensive program for the revitalization and promotion of citrus fruits, such as oranges and kinnows, was also announced, with plans for the establishment of model agricultural markets in the province. This will help boost production and exports, with an additional Rs6 billion allocated to support solar energy initiatives.
The meeting also mandated the creation of a waste-to-energy fund by March and reviewed the solar energy transition in key institutions such as the Punjab Assembly and the Institute of Cardiology.
CM Maryam has set a deadline for March to complete the "Garments Cities" project in Punjab.
In her address, CM Maryam emphasized, "Modern, technology-driven development in agriculture, energy, and industry is my vision. The agricultural and industrial revolution in Punjab is swiftly becoming a reality."
Mariyum Aurangzeb highlighted that these initiatives are driving prosperity for Punjab and Pakistan, stating, "The well-being of farmers is the cornerstone of progress for both Punjab and the nation."
