ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has temporarily suspended its counter-terrorism Operation Ghazab-Lil-Haq in observance of the sanctity of Eid al-Fitr, the Federal Minister for Information Atta Tarar announced on X.
The operation, which targets terrorist elements, will be paused from the night of March 18–19 until the night of March 23–24.
The suspension follows requests from friendly countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey, and is a gesture of goodwill in accordance with Islamic traditions.
Minister Tarar emphasized that any terrorist activity originating across the border during this period will trigger a resumption of the operation with renewed intensity.
He added that Pakistan’s temporary pause reflects both religious observance and diplomatic courtesy toward allied nations.
Earlier, an Afghan publication had confirmed that Pakistan’s military targeted only specific Taliban linked sites during a recent strike in Kabul, dismissing claims of civilian infrastructure being hit.
According to sources cited by Afghanistan International, Pakistani officials stated that the operation conducted on Monday night targeted a camp associated with Tehrik i Taliban Pakistan referred to as “Fitna al Khawarij” and Afghan Taliban elements near Camp Phoenix.
The report further alleged that following the strikes, the Afghan Taliban set fire to a nearby drug rehabilitation hospital. Taliban authorities, however, claimed the facility was destroyed in the bombing.
