ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Monday expressed concern over what it called “irresponsible remarks” made by some UK-based individuals regarding Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), according to the Foreign Office.
Foreign Office spokesperson said Pakistan rejects unnecessary comments about AJK and advised such individuals to refrain from interfering in Pakistan’s internal affairs and instead contribute positively to their countries of residence.
The spokesperson also took note of what it described as “unwarranted statements and questions” by some British parliamentarians, saying these remarks reflect a lack of understanding of the historical context of the issue.
The statement said Pakistan, as a sovereign and democratic state, upholds the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries and expects the same from others.
It added that the governments of Pakistan and AJK respect peaceful assembly and fully recognize constitutional rights to freedom of expression and participation in the democratic process.
However, it said that vandalism, damage to public services particularly hospitals and any violence against civilians or law enforcement personnel are unacceptable under any circumstances.
The Foreign Office also urged the UK government to discourage support for proscribed organizations and advise individuals to respect democratic processes, judicial decisions, and the rule of law.
It reiterated that the constitutions of Pakistan and AJK guarantee democratic values, judicial independence, and supremacy of law.

Earlier, Pakistan has once again positioned itself as a key voice for regional stability, with the Foreign Office on Thursday stating that Islamabad is playing a “constructive and sincere” role in promoting peace, while firmly condemning Israeli actions in Palestine.
Speaking during the weekly media briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi said the past two weeks had witnessed significant diplomatic engagement involving Pakistan’s top leadership and senior officials.
