Various parts of Pakistan, including Islamabad, are witnessing a sharp weather shift as rain and snowfall bring a noticeable drop in temperature across the country.
In Islamabad, a light drizzle combined with strong winds hit late last night, intensifying the winter chill.
In Azad Kashmir’s Leepa Valley, continuous heavy snowfall has blanketed the region, particularly in Bathwar Gali and Sher Gali, where over a foot of snow has accumulated. The snowfall has cut off road access to the capital, disrupting daily life for residents.
Meanwhile, Sarai Alamgir in Punjab experienced its first winter rain, contributing to a further temperature drop. While the change in weather enhances the winter charm, it has also caused travel disruptions, raising concerns for commuters.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had earlier forecasted cold and dry weather for most of the plains, while hilly areas were expected to face very cold conditions in the morning and night. However, updated forecasts predict thunderstorms, rain, and snowfall in northeast Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir in the coming hours.
In Abbottabad, Nathia Gali, Ayubiya, and Thandiani have been experiencing intermittent snowfall since last night, further intensifying the cold. Authorities have issued warnings about potential hazards due to freezing temperatures.
Power outages have been reported in several villages affected by snowfall, and Murree Road has been closed, stranding travelers and causing delays.
As winter conditions worsen, locals and authorities are advised to take necessary precautions and stay updated on further weather developments.
