Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held a crucial meeting with his Afghan counterpart, Sirajuddin Haqqani, in Kabul, where both leaders agreed to intensify efforts to counter terrorist organizations operating in the region. The ministers stressed the need for joint action against militant groups that pose a threat to peace and stability in both countries.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed key issues including enhanced border management, the repatriation of Afghan nationals residing illegally in Pakistan, and steps to prevent cross-border infiltration. They also exchanged views on the threat posed by the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Sirajuddin Haqqani warmly welcomed Mohsin Naqvi upon his arrival at the Afghan Ministry of Interior. Both ministers emphasized the importance of cooperation and peaceful coexistence between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Naqvi highlighted Pakistan’s long-standing hospitality towards millions of Afghan refugees and reiterated that legal avenues for Afghan citizens to enter Pakistan remain open. He stressed that terrorist groups are fostering instability in the region and must be tackled through coordinated efforts.
Senior Afghan Deputy Interior Minister Ibrahim Sardar and Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, Mohammad Sadiq, were also present during the meeting.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to promoting peace, stability, and regional collaboration.
