LAHORE: On the auspicious occasion of Eidul Adha, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif spoke with Haitham bin Tarik, the Sultan of Oman, over the phone today to extend warm Eid greetings to him and the brotherly people of Oman.
While exchanging Eid wishes, the two leaders prayed together for unity and harmony within the Muslim Ummah.
They also offered special prayers for the people of Gaza. The Prime Minister thanked the Sultan for Oman’s stance during the recent Pakistan-India crisis and praised Oman’s support for promoting de-escalation and dialogue.
Recalling the close fraternal relations between Pakistan and Oman, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to further strengthen bilateral cooperation with the Sultanate in all areas.
The Prime Minister warmly and cordially reiterated his invitation to Haitham bin Tarik to undertake an official visit to Pakistan.
Sultan Haitham graciously accepted the invitation and, in return, extended an invitation to the Prime Minister to undertake an official visit to Oman. Both leaders agreed to schedule the visits on mutually convenient dates through diplomatic channels.
Earlier, Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Supreme Commander of Oman, issued a royal pardon for several inmates convicted of various crimes.
“His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Supreme Commander, has issued a Royal pardon to several prisoners convicted of different cases,” Times of Oman reported.
According to the Royal Omani Police (ROP), Sultan Haitham, the Supreme Commander of Oman, has issued a pardon for 645 inmates.
