Following a recent security breach, Sindh’s top security leadership moved swiftly to enforce discipline and restore public confidence. Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar warned that accountability would be firm, transparent, and uncompromising.
A high-level meeting was convened at the Central Police Office (CPO) Karachi to review the incident and evaluate the overall law and order situation across the province.
Addressing senior officials, the Home Minister stated that the lapse was being treated with utmost seriousness and that negligence or dereliction of duty would not be tolerated.
He disclosed that, in consultation with Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, certain officers had been removed from their positions to ensure a credible and effective accountability process.
He directed the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) to carry out comprehensive inquiries and recommend action against any additional officials found guilty of incompetence.
Stressing that Sindh Police is a professional force, he emphasised that every officer must discharge responsibilities with vigilance and strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
The Home Minister further stated that any future incident within a jurisdiction would render the relevant field officer directly responsible. He commended DIG West Irfan Baloch for his bravery and prompt response, observing that the force is fully capable of confronting complex security challenges.
Inspector General of Sindh Javed Alam Odho briefed participants on the operational aspects of the incident and the preliminary findings of the investigation.
The meeting was attended by the IGP Sindh, Additional IGs of Karachi, CTD, Special Branch, zonal DIGs Karachi, DIG Headquarters Sindh, and other senior officials
