The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has approved a new four-year LLB program to improve legal education and match international standards in law education and practice.
A three-day meeting of the National Curriculum Review Committee for Law was held to review and update the current LLB program taught in universities across Pakistan.
The session was chaired by Dr. Amjad Hussain, HEC Director General (Curriculum), and attended by senior officials from Pakistan’s legal and academic communities, including legal education experts.
Notable participants included Hassan Raza Pasha from the Pakistan Bar Council and Barrister Usama Malik, Director of the Directorate of Legal Education (DLE).
The committee looked over the LLB curriculum to improve its structure and subjects, with the goal of making legal education more modern and better at preparing students in both theory and practical legal work. Dr. Aziz-ur-Rehman, who is the Dean at Quaid-i-Azam University School of Law, and Hidayatullah Kasi, Deputy Director at HEC, were also actively involved in the discussions.
The committee has given initial approval to the new four-year LLB program, which is designed to help students deal with real legal issues in Pakistan. HEC officials said the new curriculum will improve education quality and make law graduates better prepared for their careers. The revised LLB program will be introduced after getting the final official approvals and will follow Pakistan's higher education rules.
