Islamabad: Chairman of the Senate, Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani, has stated that the government will continue its mission until every girl has access to education.
Speaking at an international conference on the education of girls in Muslim communities, Yousaf Raza Gillani said that Shaheed Benazir Bhutto was the first female Prime Minister of the Muslim world. He emphasized that sustainable development is not possible without the inclusion of women and stressed the need to think beyond gender discrimination.
He further stated that Pakistan is determined to promote girls' education and that the government will continue its mission until every girl has the opportunity to learn.
The Senate Chairman added that education is not a privilege, but a fundamental right, and called on the international community to renew its commitment to empowering girls, ensuring that every girl in Pakistan is provided with educational opportunities.
Speaking at the international conference, Malala highlighted that the purpose of this conference would remain incomplete if the issue of Afghan girls' education is not addressed.
"Afghan Taliban have denied female students their right to education for more than a decade," she said.
Malala added that the Taliban have enacted over 100 laws to prevent women from accessing education. She further noted that 120 million girls worldwide are unable to attend school.
Expressing gratitude to the Muslim World League for organizing the event, she said, "I thank the Muslim World League for bringing such a large number of people together."
Malala Yousafzai also highlighted the situation in Pakistan, stating that 12.5 million girls in the country are out of school. She stressed, "Every girl has the right to attend school for at least 12 years."
Condemning the destruction of Gaza's educational system by Israel, Malala said, "My journey began in Pakistan, and my heart will always remain with Pakistan."
