  • Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad predicts Eidul Fitr 2024 in Pakistan for April 10.
  • The Shawwal crescent moon is expected to be sighted on the 29th day of Ramadan.
  • Ramadan started on March 12, leading to an anticipated 29-day fasting period this year.
Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, the Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, has provided insights into the anticipated sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon, signaling the end of Ramadan and the onset of Eidul Fitr in Pakistan. As per his projections, the moon is expected to be visible on the 29th day of Ramadan, indicating that Eidul Fitr 2024 is likely to be celebrated on Wednesday, April 10, across the country.

Maulana Azad emphasized the committee's willingness to integrate scientific observations and forecasts into their moon-sighting methodology. This stance echoes his prior engagements with former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry, affirming the committee's acknowledgment of scientific discoveries. However, he reiterated that the final decision would adhere to Islamic principles and testimonies.

The holy month of Ramadan commenced on March 12, following the sighting of the Ramadan moon a day earlier. This year, Pakistanis are poised to observe a 29-day Ramadan, culminating in the joyous celebration of Eidul Fitr on April 10, provided the crescent moon is sighted on April 9.

The advent of Ramadan was also marked on March 12 by numerous countries across the Middle East, Europe, and other global regions, including Australia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Brunei, and Oman.

During Ramadan-ul-Mubarak, Muslims engage in fasting, refraining from eating, drinking, gossiping, and uttering profanities. They are encouraged to focus on spiritual practices such as prayers, Quranic recitations, and charitable deeds. In alignment with this spirit, the government has announced the Nisab-i-Zakat at Rs. 135,179 for Zakat Year 1444–45 A.H., representing the minimum amount to be deducted from bank accounts on the eve of the first Ramadan
