Islamabad: In recognition of unparalleled bravery and military excellence during the Battle of Truth, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has been conferred with the prestigious Hilal-e-Jurat.
A dignified ceremony was held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad to honour various civilian and military personalities with high national awards. The event was attended by President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and several senior civil and military officials.
During the ceremony, President Asif Ali Zardari conferred the Nishan-e-Imtiaz on Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir received the Hilal-e-Jurat in recognition of his extraordinary leadership, unwavering patriotism, and courageous command under extremely challenging circumstances during the Battle of Truth.
Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf was awarded the Nishan-e-Imtiaz for safeguarding Pakistan’s maritime frontiers. Meanwhile, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu was honored with the Hilal-e-Jurat for successfully neutralizing enemy aerial dominance during air combat operations.
President Zardari also conferred the Nishan-e-Imtiaz on several senior government officials including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and Advisor to Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah.
The ceremony reflected the nation’s recognition of exceptional service and commitment to the country in both civil and military spheres.
