Mumbai: Prominent figures from the Indian film industry began arriving at Karisma Kapoor’s residence following the news of the death of her ex-husband and father of her children, Sanjay Kapur.
Karisma Kapoor, affectionately known as “Lolo,” was the first woman from the Kapoor family to enter Bollywood, later helping her sister Kareena Kapoor establish her own film career.
Despite numerous media controversies during her career, Karisma chose to marry outside the film industry. She tied the knot with businessman Sanjay Kapur on September 29, 2003, at the family residence Krishna Raj Bungalow in Mumbai.
The couple later separated, but continued co-parenting their children. The cause of Sanjay Kapur’s death has not yet been officially confirmed.
The news of Kapoor’s passing immediately prompted an outpouring of grief. Film industry stars and close friends, including Karisma's sister, superstar Kareena Kapoor, and her husband, actor Saif Ali Khan, rushed to Karisma Kapoor's residence in Mumbai to offer their condolences. They were joined by close friends Malaika Arora and Amrita Arora.
Sanjay Kapoor’s life was closely linked with the Kapoor family through his marriage to Karisma, a pioneering actress from her renowned family. Their high-profile wedding took place on September 29, 2003.
After over a decade, their marriage ended in a widely publicized legal battle, with their divorce finalized in 2016. During the proceedings, Karisma had made serious allegations, including claims of physical abuse.
