LONDON: Sarah Ferguson remained steadfast in her support for Former Prince Andrew, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor after he decided to relinquish the use of his royal titles and honors, with those close to the Duchess of York saying the move did little to change her commitment to her former husband or the British royal family.
According to Hello! magazine, Ferguson was unfazed by Andrew's decision last year to stop using his royal titles following years of public scrutiny over his association with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Sources close to the Duchess said she fully respected Andrew's decision and remained focused on supporting both her family and King Charles III.
Although Sarah Ferguson and Andrew divorced in 1996, the pair have maintained a close relationship. While she retains the courtesy title of Duchess of York, she has largely used her maiden name professionally and is widely known as "Fergie."
In recent years, Ferguson has gradually returned to public royal events. In 2023, she joined members of the royal family for the Christmas Day church service at Sandringham, marking her first appearance at the traditional gathering in more than three decades.
Following the event, she shared a message on Instagram expressing gratitude for spending time with family and appreciating their time together.
Since then, Ferguson has attended several royal engagements, including Easter services at St. George's Chapel and the funeral of the Duchess of Kent, where she accompanied Prince Andrew.
She has also continued to honor the memory of Queen Elizabeth II. Following the monarch's death in 2022, Ferguson took responsibility for caring for the late Queen's beloved corgis, Sandy and Muick.
