In a candid appearance on the FHM podcast hosted by Adnan Faisal, Pakistani actress Mariyam Nafees Amaan expressed her frustration with the prevalent corruption and systemic issues in Pakistan. Nafees didn't hold back, stating, "The majority of people are corrupt. We lie [for our benefit]. We all are corrupt. Nothing is done on merit in this country."
The actress highlighted the country’s deteriorating situation, noting, "Just look at where our country is standing now. Be it on a foreign front. Be it your domestic issues nationwide, or internationally." She emphasized the seriousness of various problems facing Pakistan, including "child kidnapping, child harassment, sexual assault, domestic abuse, in addition to political instability."
Nafees also criticized Karachi, the country’s largest city, for its declining safety. "Karachi has become the second most dangerous city in the world," she remarked, adding that "the people here are good but I do have a problem with people's attitude that they don't take the ownership [of Karachi]."
On a more personal note, she advised women to "share everything with their husbands or partners." Nafees concluded by addressing the insecurity felt by many, stating, "We don't feel secure [in Pakistan]. What are you talking about? It's the man who made us feel insecure."
