Nissan plans a big change in its electric vehicle lineup, aiming to launch 16 new EV models by 2026. They also want to cut production costs by 30% by 2030.
In their recent business plan, Nissan revealed that they want 40% of their models to be EVs by 2026 and 60% by 2030. This is a big jump from their earlier goal of having more than 55% EVs by 2030.
Nissan also set ambitious sales targets, aiming for 1 million more unit sales by 2026 compared to 2023. They want to have an operating profit margin of over 6% by then and will invest over $2.65 billion in battery capacity to support these plans.
They recently explored an EV partnership with Honda and plan to release seven new vehicles in the North American market. These will include "e-POWER and plug-in hybrid models" that use a mix of electricity and fuel. Currently, Nissan offers the Ariya SUV and the Leaf model as part of its electric lineup.
