Milk prices in Karachi have been updated following discussions between the city’s commissioner and the Dairy Farmers Association.
The new retail price for milk is now Rs 220 per liter, reflecting a Rs 20 increase. This decision comes despite recent decreases in petroleum prices, which typically influence the cost of many goods and services.
The new wholesale price for milk is set at Rs 205 per liter, while dairy farmers will receive Rs 195 per liter.
The price adjustment was agreed upon after lengthy negotiations, ensuring adherence to the new rates by all parties involved.
Under the terms of the new agreement, dairy farmers have committed to selling milk at the official prices, with penalties in place for any violations.
Milk vendors have also agreed not to request further price hikes until the end of December and must display purchase and sale prices clearly at all points of sale to ensure transparency for consumers.
A key part of the agreement is maintaining the quality of milk from the farm to the store, assuring consumers of good-quality milk at the new prices.
These measures aim to balance the interests of both dairy farmers and consumers, providing fair compensation for farmers while keeping milk affordable for the public.
