The U.S. dropped 30,000-pound bunker-buster bombs on the mountain above Iran’s Fordow nuclear facility.
U.S. President Donald Trump, in a post on Truth Social, hinted at the possibility of regime change, suggesting that if the current Iranian government cannot "MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN," then "regime change" might be inevitable.
Meanwhile, Israel conducted airstrikes against military targets in western Iran, retaliating for missile attacks that injured dozens and caused destruction in Tel Aviv.
Iran's Response:
Iran has vowed to defend itself, with Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stating that Iran would consider all possible responses and emphasizing that diplomacy would not resume until retaliation was executed.
Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei:
Iran's supreme leader Ali Khamenei has said that the punishment for Israel continues.
"The Zionist enemy has made a big mistake, committed a big crime; it must be punished and it is being punished; it is being punished right now," he wrote on X.
Shut down of Strait of Hormuz:
On sunday, In a decisive response to the US aggression against Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities, the Iranian parliament has voted to close the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.
A senior Iranian lawmaker, Esmaeil Kowsari, said on Sunday that the Majlis (Iranian parliament) has agreed to close the key artery for global energy trade in response to the American aggression and the silence of the international community.
"The parliament has come to the conclusion that it should close the Hormuz Strait, but the final decision lies with the Supreme National Security Council,” Kowsari stated.
The Strait of Hormuz, situated at the mouth of the Persian Gulf, is one of the most critical chokepoints in global trade, with roughly 20 percent of the world’s oil passing through it.
According to various estimates, roughly 20 percent of the world’s oil, about 17 to 18 million barrels per day, passes through the Strait of Hormuz, making it important for global energy.
Protest in Middle East:
In the Middle East, anti-war protests have emerged in U.S. cities, and tensions continue to mount as Iran and Israel exchange missile fire. Human rights organizations report that Israeli strikes have resulted in approximately 950 deaths and 3,450 injuries.
