Japanese tech has once again mesmerized the world. The futuristic “Human Washing Machine”, which wowed visitors at Osaka Expo 2025, is now officially available for commercial use in Japan.
This unique capsule-shaped device allows users to lie back comfortably while their entire body is washed, accompanied by calming music, and refreshed in just 15 minutes all without spinning or any manual effort. The experience offers a glimpse into the future of personal care and relaxation.
Developed by Science Inc, the machine has been hailed as the “future of human cleansing.” Its concept dates back to the 1970 Osaka Expo, where an early prototype inspired the company’s current president. During the six-month Osaka Expo, millions of visitors were captivated by its innovation.
Sachiko Maikura, the company’s spokesperson, explained that the machine doesn’t just clean the body it “revitalizes the soul.” Equipped with advanced sensors, the capsule continuously monitors heart rate and vital signs to ensure a safe and comfortable experience.
Following international interest, Science Inc has commercialized the device. An Osaka hotel purchased the first unit to offer guests this unique service, while electronics retailer Yamada Denki will open a demo and experiential corner on December 25, allowing the public to experience the futuristic washing pod firsthand.
Due to its advanced technology, only 50 units will initially be produced, with each priced at roughly 60 million yen (about $385,000 USD). Chairman Yasuaki Aoyama said, “Even those who missed the Expo can now experience this extraordinary invention.”
