In a video shared by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Azhar spoke about the team’s preparations.
“Our preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 began with the home series against New Zealand and now it’s all about putting the final touches on those preparations,” Azhar stated.
“We have clarity on our game plans, strategies and combinations. It’s about bringing everything together before we arrive in the United States. We’ve only played Ireland once, so they will be a relatively new opponent for us. They are aware of their home conditions and we cannot underestimate them,” he added.
Azhar also underscored the significance of delivering strong performances during the powerplay and middle overs of the innings.
“We need to play powerplay well and the batters have practiced it. We have prepared for middle overs, now it is time to execute this preparation,” he concluded.
It’s important to note that Pakistan is scheduled to play their first T20I against Ireland on Friday. The subsequent two matches will take place on Sunday and Tuesday, before the team embarks on a series of four T20Is against England.
