The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has agreed to the hybrid model for hosting the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025. This decision comes after the approval of the hybrid model by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
However, the PCB has set two key conditions before fully committing to this arrangement.
The PCB has requested that the ICC increase Pakistan's revenue share from the event. This demand is aimed at ensuring that Pakistan receives a fair financial return for hosting the prestigious tournament.
Additionally, the PCB has called for the hybrid model to be applied to all ICC events held in India until 2031.
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is shaping up to be a major event, and the implementation of the hybrid model could pave the way for future cricket tournaments with more balanced hosting arrangements.
Earlier, the decision regarding the future of the 2025 Champions Trophy has been further delayed. According to details, the International Cricket Council (ICC) board meeting scheduled for today will not take place.
The meeting is now expected to be held either tomorrow (Sunday) or the day after (Monday).
Sources suggest that discussions regarding the Champions Trophy are still ongoing within the ICC. Both the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are said to require more time to consult with their respective Ministries of Foreign Affairs.
It is also reported that the Indian Cricket Board is seeking additional time for consultations with its Ministry of External Affairs.
In a related development, during a brief 10 to 15-minute meeting held yesterday, Pakistan rejected the proposal of a hybrid model for the tournament. PCB officials stated that there was no solid reason for adopting such a model.
