The Kiwi players, who are currently a part of franchise in the IPL, are facing difficulties. The cricketers are looking for a kick start and showcase tier abilities in this season but they are not given any opportunity.
Out of nine New Zealanders contracted with the IPL franchises, only four have been given chance to play while the remaining watched the matches from the benches.
IPL has the policy of including only four foreign players in the playing XI and Kiwi players are rarely selected to be a part of the playing XI.
The New Zealand media reported a statement from a national cricketer saying that Kiwi cricketers appear to be constantly running for water and practicing only.
The surprising thing is that Kane Williamson, while representling Gujrat Titans, played only two matches and scored 27 runs. Left arm pacer Trent Boult, who is representing Rajhastan Royals, took only five wickets in four matches played.
Rising star Rachin Ravindra amassed 112 runs in 5 innings while Daryl Mitchell scored 118 runs in as many innings.
Mitchell Santner, Dion Conway, Lockie Ferguson, Glenn Phillips and Matt Henry are yet to play on the field this season.
