Recently, Omar Sharif's wife Zareen Omar appeared in a Ramadan transmission where she discussed Omar Sharif's God-fearing nature and his religious side.
Talking about his closeness to Islam, she said, “Omar Sharif was once offered Ramadan transmission which he was reluctant to do, he was fearing that the public wouldn’t accept him in the religious program. I said to him, ‘Listen, Omar, if you would be doing this transmission, you would be doing it for real, because you are an extremely kind, religious, and God-fearing person. You should do it.”
She added “You know! he first observed Aitkaf when he was ten years old. He used to offer prayers, including Ashrak prayer, Chasht prayer, and other Nawafils too, in addition to his obligatory prayers, as per his duty. The staff members at the channel must have heard his long prayers (Duas), he used to do ten minutes long ‘Dua’ in which he used to mention all the Prophets and their respected wives. His dua used to be so fulfilling”.
Additionally, Zareen Omar mentioned that Omar Sharif was an extremely kind-hearted person, especially when someone approached him seeking help for their daughter's wedding and dowry. She said, “Omar married off multiple poor girls, those girls met with Omar Sharif as well, once we were shopping and a girl came to us, she said, ‘You helped me in my marriage, because of you, I am living a happily married life’. Once a woman came to our house, gave the list of daughter’s wedding expenses, and said, ‘these things should be done by tomorrow’, and Omar arranged each and everything”
