More intermittent monsoon rains with heavy to very heavy downpours are expected in Lahore and various parts of Punjab on Thursday night, Friday, and Saturday, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
Strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal are moving into the upper and central parts of Pakistan, likely extending to the southern regions from the evening or night of August 2nd. A westerly wave is also expected to impact the northern areas starting tomorrow.
As a result, intermittent monsoon rains accompanied by gusty winds, with heavy to very heavy falls, are forecasted for Islamabad, Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Wazirabad, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Okara, Pakpattan, Kasur, Khushab, Sargodha, Layyah, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, Rajanpur, and Rahimyar Khan on Thursday night, Friday, and Saturday.
These torrential rains may lead to flash flooding in local nullahs and streams in Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Northeast Punjab, and the hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan.
Urban flooding is a possibility in low-lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan, and Sahiwal on August 2nd and 3rd. Landslides could disrupt traffic in the hilly regions of Murree and Galliyat during this period.
In Lahore, the maximum temperature is expected to range between 29-31°C on Friday and Saturday. Over the last 24 hours, rain, wind, and thundershowers with isolated heavy falls were observed in Lahore and upper/central Punjab.

Bahawalpur remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 39°C. Maximum temperature in Dera Ghazi Khan was recorded at 37°C, and Multan at 36°C.
In Lahore, maximum temperature was recorded at 29°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 88 percent.
