KARACHI: Two young boys, 5-year-old Aliyan and 6-year-old Ali, have gone missing in Karachi’s Garden area on Wednesday. Their families have filed an FIR at the Garden police station, claiming the children were playing outside their homes before they disappeared.
The police have initiated a search, although no leads have surfaced yet. Both children live in the same locality, and authorities are continuing their efforts to locate them at various locations.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has taken immediate notice of the case and directed police officials to recover the missing children as soon as possible. The CM also ordered an increase in police patrolling around Karachi and instructed the additional IG to submit a detailed report on the situation.
This incident is the second recent case of a missing child in Karachi. A 7-year-old madrassa student, Sarim, has been missing for seven days, and despite extensive investigations, there has been no trace of him. The police are still searching for him in the North Nazimabad area.
Sarim’s father has reported receiving suspicious calls from unknown numbers, with demands for online money transfers and one asking for Sarim’s picture. After sending the picture, the number went offline. Police traced these numbers to various cities in Punjab and Balochistan, but no connection to the case has been established.
Despite efforts, there is no evidence yet that links Sarim’s disappearance to foul play. The family also pointed out that while the apartment complex has CCTV cameras, they were not functional during the incident due to a power outage.
Authorities have registered an FIR fearing possible abduction, and the madrassa teacher has confirmed that Sarim left after completing his lesson with his elder brother. While the elder brother returned home, Sarim did not.
