LAHORE: In the past 24 hours, Punjab has reported 48 new cases of dengue fever, including 15 from Lahore. With these fresh cases, the total number of patients in Lahore has reached 245.
Rawalpindi also saw a spike, with 20 new cases recorded in a single day. The district’s total has now climbed to 676, health officials confirmed. Overall, Punjab has reported 1,430 dengue cases so far this season.
Islamabad too is witnessing a surge. In the last 24 hours, 56 fresh cases were reported—37 from rural areas and 19 from urban parts of the capital. According to the District Health Officer, 27 patients are currently admitted to different hospitals.
Dengue Alert Issued:
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has already warned of a high risk of dengue outbreaks from September 20 until early December 2025. The department highlighted that prolonged monsoon rains, flooding, and stagnant water have created perfect conditions for mosquitoes to breed.Experts explain that dengue spreads fastest when temperatures stay between 26–29 °C for several weeks, humidity remains high, and heavy rainfall occurs. These conditions are currently present in many parts of the country.
PMD has listed Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Multan, Sialkot, Peshawar, Sukkur, and Hyderabad as high-risk areas. Flood-hit regions are especially vulnerable, as millions remain displaced and living in crowded shelters where mosquito-borne diseases spread quickly.
Health authorities have urged citizens to take precautions, such as using mosquito repellents, covering water containers, and keeping their surroundings clean and dry.
