KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has said that a strong low-pressure system has developed over the Gulf of Cambay (Khambhat) and nearby Gujarat in India.
According to the Cyclone Warning Centre in Karachi, the system is expected to move west-northwest and enter the Northeast Arabian Sea near Saurashtra, India, around October 1, 2025. It may also strengthen into a depression once it reaches the sea.
The PMD made it clear that there is no threat to Pakistan’s coastal areas at the moment. The system, however, is being closely monitored.
Earlier, the Met Office had predicted rain with strong winds in parts of southeastern Sindh from tonight until October 2. Districts including Umarkot, Tharparkar, Badin, Mithi, Sujawal, Jamshoro, Mirpur Khas, Sanghar, Karachi, and Thatta are likely to receive rain with thunderstorms. Some areas could see moderate to heavy rainfall.
For Karachi, PMD has forecast hot and humid weather with chances of thunderstorms and light to moderate showers on Tuesday. The city’s maximum temperature may rise to 35–37°C. Skies are expected to remain partly cloudy tomorrow with the possibility of rain in some areas.
