Pakistan's IT exports achieved an impressive 34.9% growth during the first four months of the current fiscal year, surpassing $1.2 billion, as revealed by Minister of State for IT, Shaza Fatima Khawaja.
Comparing this performance to the same period last year, she noted that IT exports were at $891 million, showing an increase of over $300 million by October 2024. The growth trend in October alone represented a 38.6% rise compared to October 2023, when exports stood at $230 million.
The state minister credited the government’s active efforts to support the IT sector. She emphasized initiatives under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) aimed at fostering innovation, upgrading infrastructure, and enhancing global competitiveness.
“All institutions, with the SIFC’s backing, are working tirelessly to sustain this momentum and expand Pakistan’s presence in the international IT market,” Shaza Fatima affirmed.
In addition, Pakistan’s overall exports saw a substantial rise of $1.29 billion in the first four months of the fiscal year. Data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics revealed a 13.55% year-on-year growth, with exports crossing the $10.88 billion threshold from July to October.
