Islamabad's interim government is expected to increase the prices of petrol and diesel in the upcoming biweekly review on January 31, covering the first half of February.
According to reports, the surge in petroleum prices is attributed to growing international rates, driven by heightened tensions in the Middle East stemming from Houthi rebels' attacks on cargo ships associated with the US and Israel.
The federal government adjusts petroleum prices every two weeks based on recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).
Expected Increase in Petrol and Diesel Prices
The regulatory authority is anticipated to raise the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 7 per liter each on January 31, following consecutive reductions in the past few months. The revised prices are set to be implemented from February 1 to February 15.
Expected New Petrol and Diesel Price in Pakistan
As of now, the cost per liter of petrol is Rs 259.34, and high-speed diesel is priced at Rs 276.21 per liter in Pakistan.
