NADRA has announced that it will stop offering CNIC (Computerised National Identity Card) services at post offices across the country. This decision is aimed at making operations more efficient and using resources better.
In a statement, NADRA said that CNIC registration counters will now be set up at union councils throughout Pakistan. To avoid wasting equipment, the machines already being used by Pakistan Post will now be moved to these new union council locations.
One of the main reasons behind this move is the concern over cybersecurity threats at post offices. NADRA fears that Pakistan Post sites could be targeted by cyberattacks, which influenced the decision to stop CNIC services there.
Officials also mentioned that the equipment at post offices wasn’t being used fully, and shifting services to union councils will help use the equipment more effectively. This change is expected to make the CNIC registration process smoother, more secure, and easier for people to access.
