As June 5, 2025, approaches, a growing sense of unease is spreading across Japan. The fear isn’t just due to recent seismic activity, but also because of a decades-old prediction made by a Japanese woman named Ryo Tatsuki, who claimed a devastating earthquake and tsunami would strike on this exact date.
Ryo gained public attention in Japan after her book “The Future as I Saw” (published in 1999) eerily predicted the 2011 earthquake and tsunami that claimed thousands of lives. In 2015, she updated her book, warning of an even larger earthquake and tsunami on July 5, 2025. According to her, cracks would appear in the seabed between Japan and the Philippines, triggering massive waves, three times more powerful than those of 2011. She claimed this tsunami would devastate not only Japan but also surrounding countries.
Although Islam and many belief systems do not put faith in human predictions, several non-Muslim traditions give weight to the words of prophets, monks, and seers. Ryo’s followers have become more anxious recently, as Japan has recorded over 900 earthquakes in just the past two weeks. The Japanese government has confirmed an unusual increase in seismic activity since June 21, particularly in regions near tectonic plate boundaries.
Locals are understandably nervous, with social media filled with discussions about Ryo’s prophecy. While many dismiss it as a coincidence, others remain cautious. After all, the 2011 disaster began just as suddenly, and few believed it was coming until it struck.
As the date draws near, only time will tell whether Ryo Tatsuki’s chilling warning was just a prediction—or a terrifying reality waiting to unfold.
