SKARDU: Pakistani-American singer Quratulain Balouch, popularly known as QB, was injured in a rare bear attack while camping in the scenic Deosai National Park, officials confirmed
The incident occurred during her tour of the Skardu region, where she had been exploring the natural beauty of Deosai, known for its vast high-altitude plains and rich wildlife.
According to the park authorities and local sources, a Himalayan brown bear entered the campsite unexpectedly and attacked the singer, resulting in serious injuries to both her arms.
Eyewitnesses say QB was accompanied by her driver, photographer, and local guides when the bear suddenly approached the tent. Her companions bravely intervened, managing to drive the animal away and prevent further harm.
Following the attack, QB was administered first aid at the campsite before being rushed to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital in Skardu. Medical personnel there confirmed that while her injuries were severe, she is receiving appropriate treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.
Quratulain Balouch rose to fame with her haunting rendition of "Woh Humsafar Tha", the title track of the hit television drama Humsafar. Known for her soulful voice and emotional depth, she has since delivered several memorable performances, including "Ankhian Nu Ren De", a tribute to legendary singer Reshma, and "Panchi", a collaboration with the band Jal on Coke Studio.
Deosai National Park, often referred to as the ‘Land of Giants’, spans over 3,000 square kilometers and sits at an elevation of over 13,000 feet. It is home to the endangered Himalayan brown bear, whose sightings, though rare, pose potential danger to visitors if safety protocols are not strictly followed.
