LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has submitted a resolution against digital terrorism in the Punjab Assembly, in which it has been demanded that digital terrorists should be stopped and punished with iron hands.

The PML-N member Raheela Khadim Hussain has presented a resolution against digital terrorism in the Punjab Assembly.

In the text of the resolution, it was said that digital terrorism is about to undermine the political and social foundations of the country. It highlights that these terrorists often attack institutions and harass officers and their families.

In the text, it was said that by doing digital terrorism, they are promoting disgusting acts in foreign countries as well.

It has been said in the resolution that political leaders, workers, institutions are not safe from digital terrorism. A fake clip attributed to Azma Bukhari was spread which has nothing to do with reality.

The resolution demanded that the terrorism of digital terrorists should be stopped with iron hands.

On the other hand, federal government has designated special courts in Islamabad under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (Peca), 2016, to try “digital terrorists” and those allegedly involved in spreading “anti-state propaganda” through digital content in the virtual world.

The federal government’s decision to try people under Peca surfaced after the law ministry issued a notification pertaining to the establishment of the special courts, stating that the decision was taken after consulting the chief justice of the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
