New Jersey: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump as “encouraging,” highlighting a renewed momentum in bilateral ties.
Speaking to the media in New Jersey, the prime minister said discussions with President Trump covered a wide range of areas including the economy, counterterrorism, minerals, artificial intelligence, information technology, and cryptocurrency. He noted that the United States has expressed readiness to invest in trade, IT, and other key sectors in Pakistan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz thanked President Trump for his support on tariff-related matters and expressed confidence that the valuation of Pakistan’s mineral resources would be determined fairly.
He added that future Pakistan-U.S. trade agreements will be based on mutual interests and shared benefits.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that in May 6-10, Pakistani forces bravely defeated India in the war.
Talking to the media in New Jersey, the Prime Minister said that Field Marshal Asim Munir wisely laid the forces of Pakistan in the war.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that India was forced to accept a ceasefire after facing significant setbacks during the recent conflict.
“They had claimed victory, boasting about shooting down seven of our aircraft and launching attacks everywhere,” the prime minister stated. “But the reality was that their minds were in disarray — they were overwhelmed and confused. At that point, they decided not to escalate further and agreed to a ceasefire”.
The Prime Minister also mentioned the visit to Saudi Arabia while talking to the media.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that he went to Saudi Arabia and was welcomed there, the Prime Minister said that he had not seen such a welcome in 40 years.
Shehbaz Sharif highlighted significant improvement in Pakistan’s economic situation, noting that the country has made notable progress despite facing severe challenges in recent years.
Speaking about the state of the economy, the prime minister said that when his government took office, the country was grappling with serious economic difficulties. “A few years ago, the situation was extremely challenging. When we assumed power, inflation stood at 32 percent,” he stated. “Today, in just a year and a half, inflation has declined to single digits.”
