The NDMA's advisory highlights that this weather system could result in significant rainfall, which may trigger landslides, mudslides, and falling boulders, potentially disrupting roadways in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Galiyat, Murree, Gilgit Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJ&K). The advisory also notes the likelihood of flash floods in local nullahs, with hill torrents potentially forming in the Sulaiman and Kirthar Ranges, as well as in Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur.
Flash floods, the NDMA warns, can occur suddenly, often catching residents off guard. The authority advises the public to steer clear of floodwaters and seek safety away from flood-prone areas. "Even six inches of moving water can knock you off your feet, and just one foot of moving water can sweep away a vehicle," the advisory cautions. Additionally, it advises against crossing bridges where water is flowing rapidly, as this can be extremely hazardous during floods.
For those caught in intense rainfall, the NDMA recommends taking refuge in secure locations such as schools, government buildings, or other concrete structures.
