Provincial Minister Sharjeel Memon announced that the Sindh government will cover the rental costs for these electric buses. Over the course of eight years, these environmentally friendly vehicles will become the property of the Sindh government, contributing to the long-term sustainability of Karachi's transport system.
The Cabinet has approved an initial rental payment of PKR 412.5 million for the first six months. Going forward, the government will allocate PKR 825 million annually for the next seven years to cover the ongoing rental expenses.
Presently, these 50 electric buses are operational on three major routes in Karachi, serving commuters. This deployment is part of a broader strategy aimed at improving public transportation and reducing the city's dependency on fossil fuels.
