Tehran: Iran's Atomic Energy Organization has officially confirmed American attacks on its nuclear facilities, stating that the "enemy" targeted atomic sites in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Iran asserts that these attacks constitute a violation of international law.
According to Iranian state news agency, Morteza Heidari, spokesperson for Qom province's Crisis Management Cell, reported an aerial attack on a section of the Fordow nuclear center. This admission comes at a time of peak regional tension.
Previously, Iran's Deputy Political Director, Hassan Abadi, told state television that these three nuclear centers were evacuated as a precautionary measure before the potential attacks. He suggested that while there might be "some truth" to US President Donald Trump's statements, Iran had already moved nuclear materials to safe locations, thus preventing significant damage.
Akbar Salehi, Isfahan's Deputy Security Governor, also confirmed hearing explosions in Natanz and Isfahan, and the presence of attacks near the facilities.
The Iranian government's confirmation follows President Trump's claim of "successful attacks" on Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.
This confirmation from Iran is likely to escalate existing global tensions and deepen the political and diplomatic crisis in the Middle East.
