Sharjeel Memon, Sindh's Transport and Mass Transit Minister, has revealed plans to extend Karachi's Pink People’s Bus Service by introducing two extra routes, with the goal of enhancing transportation options for women.

The Pink Bus Service, currently running from Model Colony Malir to Tower via Shahrah-e-Faisal on the R1 route, will expand its coverage by introducing two additional routes.

During a recent meeting overseen by Sharjeel Memon to assess the launch preparations for new transport initiatives in Karachi and Mirpurkhas, it was determined that the inauguration of the new routes for the Pink Bus Service would take place on April 19.

Minister Memon also disclosed intentions to implement a cashless automated fare collection smart card service on April 25, with the goal of offering commuters a convenient and efficient payment option.

This announcement builds upon previous efforts by the Sindh government to enhance and extend public transportation services in the province. On March 18, Minister Memon revealed proposals for additional routes for the Pink Bus Service and the introduction of the People’s Bus Service in Mirpurkhas after Eidul Fitr.

The Pink People’s Bus Service, launched on February 1, is celebrated as the nation’s inaugural bus service exclusively for women, showcasing the government’s dedication to fostering gender inclusivity and improving access to transportation for all individuals.
