ISLAMABAD/KARACHI: The nation is observing Defence and Martyrs Day today with great enthusiasm to pay tribute to the martyrs and ghazis who laid down their lives for the defence of the motherland.
The day began in the federal capital with a 31-gun salute, marking the start of nationwide commemorations.
In Karachi, Air Vice Marshal Shehryar Khan said that Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos has revived the memories of September 6, adding that in the future, Pakistan’s response would be even more decisive.
Speaking as the chief guest at the graceful change of guards ceremony at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, he said it was an honor for the cadets of the Pakistan Air Force Academy Asghar Khan to assume guard duties at the Mazar. “September 6 reminds us of the day when we thwarted the enemy’s designs and safeguarded the nation with courage and unity,” he remarked.
The Air Vice Marshal emphasized that the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) stands ready to respond to threats on all fronts. “Our enemies have always faced defeat. The Pakistan Air Force has never disappointed the nation and has always lived up to the expectations of our people,” he said.
He further underlined that the PAF takes pride not only in its role during war but also in its contributions during peacetime, always remaining at the forefront of serving the country.
