The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has intensified its campaign against fake, unhygienic, and low quality food products across the province.
The move is part of ongoing efforts to protect public health and ensure that consumers receive safe and quality food. Food safety has remained a major concern in Punjab, where authorities regularly carry out inspections to stop the sale and production of harmful products.
According to PFA Director General Syed Musa Raza, food safety teams conducted several operations in different areas and destroyed substandard goods worth around Rs20 million.
During the crackdown, officials seized and disposed of 10,950 liters of fake cold drinks, 1,300 liters of unhygienic milk, 30,000 sachets of gutka, 250 kilograms of meat, and 435 kilograms of Chinese salt that failed to meet safety standards.
The authority also took legal action against businesses found violating food safety rules. During the operations, PFA teams imposed fines totaling Rs1.15 million on several outlets and production units. In addition, seven units involved in producing unhygienic products were sealed to prevent further distribution of unsafe items in the market.
Authorities also registered four First Information Reports (FIRs) against those involved in serious violations. Officials said strict monitoring is necessary to stop the production and sale of counterfeit and harmful products that can pose risks to consumers.
Syed Musa Raza said the crackdown will continue across Punjab without any leniency. He added that the PFA remains committed to ensuring food safety and taking firm action against anyone involved in activities that threaten public health. The authority urged businesses to follow food safety regulations and maintain proper hygiene standards.
